5 EASY STEPS TO FIGURING OUT WHAT YOU WANT AND EXACTLY HOW TO GET IT!Mon 01 2018 | admin
Have you recovered yet?
From the crazy month of December when you most likely worked harder than ever!
Things have cooled down a bit and you have some time to take a deep breath and think about the year ahead.
We all dream of finding the dream job, don’t we? Do you know what yours is? And if so, do you know how to find it? At Placed, we believe so strongly in being happy at your workplace and doing something you really love and that challenges you at the same time.
So we put this quick guide together to help you figure out what you love to do and how to make it a reality!
TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY
It’s something we take for granted, but who really has better knowledge about you, your personality and what makes you tick more than your friends and family?
Ask them what they think of you and when they’ve seen you the happiest. Is it when you’re cooking for friends? Or perhaps when you’re in a fast-paced job working hard and smart.
They will give you great insight into what makes you tick and what makes you smile so pick up the phone and make some calls 🙂
 REFLECT ON YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES
Grab 10 minutes, grab a notebook, grab a pen, take a seat and reflect on the last 3 jobs you had.
Note the the things you liked about each job and the things you didn’t like.
Were you happiest being the first person to greet a customer when they walk into a restaurant?
Or did you get the most pleasure from guiding a guest through the exciting, daily special menu, exploring and explaining the ingredients in each dish.
Or perhaps, it was those moments in the kitchen, putting the final touches on a dish ready for service?
Did you enjoy breakfast service or did you hate the early wake up call?
Perhaps you loved being a night owl, shaking cocktails till the wee hours. Or did you really not enjoy the commute home after a long night’s shift?
Write it all down, anything that comes to mind and begin to weigh it all out. You will soon start to see which things you loved and those you’d rather say goodbye to.
 USE TECHNOLOGY
Now that you’ve figured out what you do and dont like, you’re so close to finding your ideal job.
The same way you use apps and technology to get from A to B, to find love or score a date, to instantly connect with a plumber to come and fix a broken pipe, to get a massage straight to your home, you can do the same to find your best job yet!
By using Placed for example, you can plug in all the relevant information about your likes and dislikes as well as personal information about who you are, where you’ve worked and fun facts about yourself so that we can match you to the best jobs… JUST FOR YOU!
TAKE THE TIME TO DO IT PROPERLY… IT PAYS OFF!
Once you’ve created an account on Placed, take the time to really fill out your profile to the best of your ability!
If you already have a Place profile, why not check in and see where you can update your profile for the new year?
You can add in so much information about yourself! About where you’ve worked, the skills that you have and any relevant education.
Upload a nice, friendly picture of yourself and add in a fun fact so that potential employers can get to understand more about who you are and what you’re all about!
This really does pay off as it is simply so appealing for venues to see that you have taken the time out to make an effort!
 BE ACTIVE AND TAKE CONTROL
Now it’s time to scroll, filter and APPLY! Don’t just sit there waiting for the venues to reach out to you (even though they will), take action and work through all of your matches and opportunities and apply to those roles that excite you and that you think would challenge.
Keep track of your interviews and be sure not to miss any or at least to notify a potential employer that you won’t make it if you’ve had a change of heart.
By using Placed, we make it super easy for you by sending you updates and reminders and giving you the option to cancel or reschedule interviews…. this is good karma – and good karma means good jobs for you 🙂
