Hand Picked Hotels has chosen Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa, a Tudor manor in the Northamptonshire countryside, as its Hotel of the Year.

The 60-bedroom, four red-AA-star hotel in Daventry was awarded the title for its “very strong” financial results and its new AA red star status, four years after being acquired by Hand Picked Hotels for £15m from entrepreneur Simon Lowe. £4.5m has since been spent on its restoration.

“The guest feedback was excellent, with exceptionally positive comments about the team, service and the overall experience,” said Julia Hands, chairman and chief executive of Hand Picked Hotels.

“The employee survey results were the highest in the company – an excellent result for Mark Clayton’s leadership of a happy, highly effective team.”

Part of the Hand Picked Hotels’ collection of 20 hotels across the UK and Channel Islands, the property is set within parkland and gardens designed by landscape architect Capability Brown in the 18th century. It also features the two-AA-rosette fine dining Cedar restaurant.

General manager Mark Clayton said: “We are all so proud to have achieved the Hotel of the Year award. This is the result of the hard work and dedication by everyone here at Fawsley Hall.”
