London Pizza Festival 2017: Battle of capital’s best pizza returns to Borough Market

London’s top pizza chefs will assemble in Borough Market once again this May for the annual battle to be crowned the capital’s best.

London Pizza Festival will return for its third year on May 28, with six pizza stalls in residence.

It will feature L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, which brought an outpost of its legendary Naples restaurant to Stoke Newington earlier this year; Hoxton’s Radio Alice; Streatham’s Addommè; roaming street food stars Napoli on the Road and Sud Italia; and last year’s winner Made of Dough.

The festival is organised by Daniel Young, founder of Young & Foodish and author of Where to Eat Pizza, and he has been responsible for assembling the line-up.

Of course, the winner will be down to the will of the people. Across the festival 800 pizza fans will be able to vote for their favourite on a sticker chart after having tried each pizza.

To be a judge, and partake in all the day’s pizza antics, you’ll need to buy a ticket for £28, which includes entry, a drink and a quarter of a slice of pizza from each competitor.

Alongside pizza, the festival will also feature a selection of craft ales from Skinner’s Brewery and sweet treats from Casa Cannoli and Sorbitium Ices, while bottles of Italian Ferrarelle sparkling mineral water will be handed out.

The day will be split into four sessions starting between midday and 4.30pm, with tickets available now at

If food-specific festivals are your bag, you might also want to add London’s upcoming fried chicken, cheese, sandwich and sausage festivals to your diary — not to mention our own Food Month.
