SOHO HOUSE WHITE CITYTue 04 2018 | Adaya
The Soho House group has opened a new private members’ club, all-day restaurant and bar at the old Television Centre in White City.
The club has a rooftop pool and a cinema in typical lavish Soho House style. Will the venue join the ranks of the best places to eat and drink in West London?
This is on the site of the old BBC Television Centre, which has now been redeveloped into offices, bars, restaurants and this outpost of Soho House. There’s a rooftop pool surrounded by their trademark sun loungers, this time upholstered in a retro print.
The 45 bedrooms here range in size from ‘tiny’ through ‘cosy’, ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘big’, all with double beds fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets, walk-in rainforest showers and Cowshed products.
The members’ area upstairs houses a games room, several bars and of course that pool with its spectacular views – but don’t worry if you’re not a member, as the whole ground floor is open to you.
Upstairs in the members’ area, there’s a restaurant serving Soho House favourites, Asian-inspired dishes and also healthy, light food like salads. In the open-access area there’s an all-day restaurant called The Allis, open from breakfast through to late in the evening so you can grab everything here, including your morning pastry, your sundowner martini and late night, ill-advised but oh-so-fun shots.
There’s also a kiosk bar downstairs next to the cinema, for essential snacking purposes.
You can grab everything at The Allis, from your morning coffee to after-work cocktails.
Rooms at White City House start at around £100 and prices vary depending on the size of the room. Prices are reduced for Soho House members, of course.
In a Nutshell:
The redevelopment of Television Centre has been a major boost for an area that was rather lacking in exciting destinations. We can just see ourselves relaxing by the pool this summer, cocktail in hand, book in the other. Of course, it’ll just be a very thin disguise for people-watching…
