The eating and drinking extravaganza that is Taste of London is opening its doors once again on the 14th June, and we can’t wait.

The festival brings together some of the hottest names on the food and drinks scene along with teams who have been delivering year in year out – it’s a veritable who’s who of our great city’s culinary tastemakers.

There are a couple of ways to approach this foodies’ paradise. One is to simply follow your nose and see what you discover. We like this approach of serendipity as it’s a great way to explore and taste new things.

The other is to have a bit of a plan so that you don’t find yourself too full to eat another morsel as you stumble across the best looking dish you’ll see all year.

We thought we’d give you a little helping hand by picking some of the places we’ll be making sure to save room for.

1. Temper: for some of the best barbecued meat in London, you need to head to Neil Rankin’s Temper. We had a pretty special meal there and expect more of the same at Regent’s Park.

2. Kricket: for genuinely innovative and delicious Indian cuisine. The cooking from the Kricket team is a far cry from the high street post-pub curry houses, with delicate fish dishes mixing it up with robustly spiced meat and vegetables.

3. Senõr Ceviche: one of the latest openings in London and one that is placing Peruvian cuisine firmly on the map of great dining options in London. Ceviche, slow cooked ribs, pisco sours – you had us at Senõr…

4. Duck and Waffle Local: the new spot from the talented team who’ve been feeding Londoners around the clock at their Heron Tower outpost. What you’ll find on the menu is a closely kept secret but we think it will be worth checking out.

5. Aster: Helen Puolakka is the well regarded chef behind a menu quite unlike any other in London. Classic Nordic dishes such as pickled herrings and cured salmon can be found sharing a menu with gnocchi and lamb shoulder – it’s Finnish with a splash of French and Italian.

So whether you take a wander around or follow a bit of a plan, our main piece of advice is to go hungry. Skip breakfast, skip lunch, in fact just skip – it’s great exercise and will definitely bring on your appetite…
