Working at Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust

Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust is the organisation which manages Leighton Hospital, Crewe; the Victoria Infirmary, Northwich and Elmhurst Intermediate care Centre, Winsford. We are also responsible for Community healthcare in Cheshire.

It’s an exciting time to join Mid Cheshire. We’re preparing to launch a new Trust strategy to help us build back better from coronavirus and achieve our vision to ‘deliver excellence in healthcare through innovation and collaboration’.

Digital and technological innovation is crucial to our ambitious strategy, which sets out how we will:
• Deliver services safely and effectively whilst continuing to respond to Covid-19
• Develop new ways of working and recruiting to deliver outstanding care and patient experience
• Provide the most effective care to achieve the best possible outcomes
• Be the best place to work
• Meet the long term needs of our patients and services with an infrastructure and workforce that’s fit for the future
• Work with our local partners to deliver an effective, efficient and well-integrated health and care system
• Be a high performing, clinically led and well governed organisation with effective leadership at all levels

" Digital innovation and the use of the very latest technology lie at the heart of the Trust strategy over the next five years and this post is crucial to delivering on our future aspirations. Mid Cheshire is proud to serve a community of more than 300,000 people – our ambition is for a ‘new Leighton’, providing specialised and innovative services to meet the changing needs of our patients. We also have an exciting plan to significantly redevelop the Leighton Hospital site based on a new ‘digital hospital’ environment, which our Chief Information Officer will play a key role in. Our proposals will deliver a state of the art, technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable facility that offers exceptional, modern healthcare. This will also help us to meet the needs of our population, which is getting larger, growing older, and has increasing needs."

Others about us

Being a nurse is very rewarding, helping patients to recover from illness and traumatic injuries, as well as being a patient advocate. It’s sometimes challenging and extremely busy, but being a nurse is full of variety and achievement.

Why would I work anywhere else? The staff here supported me through difficult times, they celebrated my achievements with me, they kept me going when I was struggling most, and they were genuinely happy for me when I finally achieved my goal. They are more than just colleagues – they are like family and I wouldn’t be without them.

I joined Mid Cheshire in 2017 and have completed many courses since starting. I’m currently being supported to do an NVQ2 in Customer Services, which I feel is relevant to my post. My manager is also very supportive and is trying to develop the whole team.
