Job Title:  PE Teacher
Location:  Groveside School, Reading, RG2 7AY
Hours:      37.5 per week | Monday–Friday 
Salary:      Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:        September 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and inclusive PE Teacher who can bring energy, expertise and compassion to our growing school community. As our school continues to flourish, you will play a key role in shaping an engaging PE curriculum and a vibrant extra‑curricular offer that inspires every pupil to participate, achieve and thrive.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality PE lessons and physical development activities that inspire participation and progress
  • Build a vibrant extra‑curricular offer including clubs, wellbeing sessions, team games and enrichment opportunities
  • Use assessment to monitor, record and report on pupil progress, celebrating success and supporting every learner
  • Adapt PE and physical activity to ensure pupils with SEND and SEMH needs can participate safely and meaningfully
  • Create safe, stimulating learning environments, organising equipment, spaces and groupings effectively
  • Promote physical activity as a tool for confidence, regulation, teamwork and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, LSAs, care staff and families to ensure consistent support for pupils
  • Contribute to curriculum development, school improvement priorities and the wider life of the school

What you will bring

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A passion for PE, inspiring participation, confidence and wellbeing
  • The ability to thrive in a fun, purposeful and sometimes challenging environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills, using restorative practice and teamwork to engage pupils
  • Resilience, approachability and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for motivating students
  • Creativity in teaching, with a focus on bringing out the best in every learner
  • A full driving licence

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
