Closing Date: 30th April 2026 Location: Bristol Job Title: Process Technician Job Type: Full time; on-site Salary: £30-38K About the Role This is a hands-on role for someone who makes things work. You will join during the commissioning phase of our pre-pilot and be a vital part of the move to pilot — helping to physically bring it to life before transitioning into operating and maintaining it as it moves into production trials. You will be the person who fits the pump, traces the fault, fabricates the bracket, and keeps the plant running when it shouldn’t. You will work closely with the engineering and chemistry teams, supporting experimental trials and making sure the physical infrastructure does what it needs to do. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in practical excellence — in knowing the plant intimately, in fixing things properly, and in being the person the team relies on to keep things moving. About Uplift360 Uplift360 is transforming how aerospace, defence and industrial sectors recover and reuse high-value composite waste. Our proprietary ChemR technology chemically regenerates carbon fibre — producing a high value material ready for reintegration into the market. In February 2026 we closed a €7.4M seed round led by Extantia, with investment from the NATO Innovation Fund, Promus Ventures and Fund F. We work with Babcock on Eurofighter Typhoon end-of-life recovery, Leonardo on Merlin helicopter blade regeneration, and RollsRoyce. We were named one of Tech Nation’s Top 25 Climate Tech Companies to Watch in 2026. We are building our first pilot-scale processing line in Bristol. This hire will help build it, commission it, and keep it running. What You’ll Do: Build & Commissioning • Support the physical build and commissioning of engineering equipment — fitting, installing, and testing mechanical and process systems • Install and commission auxiliary process equipment: pumps, pipework, valves, conveyors, heat exchangers, and ancillary systems • Fabricate bespoke brackets, fixtures, supports, and adaptations as needed — practical fabrication using appropriate materials and methods • Work alongside the engineering team and external contractors during build phases, contributing practical hands-on capability Operations & Maintenance • Operate the pilot plant during process development trials — following SOPs, monitoring conditions, and flagging anomalies • Own preventative maintenance of pilot plant equipment: scheduled servicing, calibration checks, consumable management • Troubleshoot mechanical and process faults diagnostically — identify root causes, implement fixes, document what was done and why • Maintain the plant in a safe, clean, and organised state — taking personal ownership of the physical environment Trial Support • Support experimental trials run by the engineering and R&D team — setting up equipment, monitoring runs, collecting samples, recording data • Prepare equipment and materials ahead of planned trial programmes — ensuring the plant is ready and nothing is left to chance on the day • Contribute practical observations during trials — you will often notice things others don’t because you know the plant best Safety & Standards • Follow and contribute to safe working practices, risk assessments, and SOPs • Identify and report hazards or near misses promptly — safety is everyone’s job, not just the engineers’ • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, plant modifications, and equipment status These key accountabilities listed above describes an overview of the post and is not intended to be exhaustive. The job holder is expected to accept reasonable additional tasks of similar level that may be necessary and not listed. What We’re Looking For Essential • Practical mechanical ability — demonstrated through trade experience, technical training, or a track record of building and maintaining equipment • Experience working with process plant, industrial equipment, or mechanical systems in a hands-on capacity • A genuine fixer’s mentality — systematic approach to fault-finding, not just swapping parts until something works • Comfortable working safely with chemical process equipment — understands the importance of following procedures in a process environment • Reliable, self-motivated, and takes ownership — the kind of person who notices something needs doing and does it Strongly desirable • Engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent practical technical training • Experience in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, or any process industry environment • Pipework, pneumatics, or fluid systems experience • Familiarity with electrical systems, instrumentation, or control panels at a maintenance level • Forklift, IPAF, or other relevant operational licences The right person for this role won’t be defined by their qualifications. They’ll be defined by how they approach a problem when something isn’t working and nobody has told them what to do about it. The Team You will work closely with our team of engineers, technicians and scientists in a small, practically minded team. Everyone gets their hands dirty — including the engineers. You will be valued for your practical knowledge and your ability to keep the plant running, not just for following instructions. What We Offer The rare opportunity to help build a pilot plant from scratch and then operate it — you will know this plant better than anyone • £30,000–£38,000 base salary dependent on experience • A small team where your contribution is visible and your practical knowledge is genuinely valued • A technically interesting environment — novel chemistry, advanced materials, real engineering challenges • Stability and growth — backed by €7.4M seed funding from serious investors including the NATO Innovation Fund and Extantia Why Join Uplift360? We are a family friendly company that believes in the importance of supporting our employees to find and maintain an excellent work life balance. Your physical, mental and financial wellbeing matters to us. We offer: Comprehensive holiday package: • Generous holiday allowance, with a policy that encourages taking time off to recharge. • 37 days leave (full year, FTE) including UK bank holidays. Flexible working: • Core business hours are 0900-1700 Monday-Friday. Working hours must adhere to the open hours of the facility. This role will be based at our Bristol sites (Science Creates Old Market & St. Phillips). • We’re happy to discuss flexible working options to support work-life balance at interview stage. Equal Opportunity Statement We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. Reasonable Adjustments We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the recruitment process and you will be asked whether you require any during your application. We also offer reasonable adjustments on the job. Pre-Employment Checks As part of the application process, this role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. These may include verification of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, references, and disclosure of any unspent criminal convictions. By applying for this position, candidates agree to these checks being carried out
