Yolkin is a new Asian inspired ice cream shop in Chinatown, selling macaron ice cream sandwiches.

This is the first permanent Yolkin site for owner Sammie Le and we think it will become a must-visit Chinatown hot spot, along with these other top restaurants in Chinatown.

The Spot:

This new shop on Rupert Street, decorated in a palette of white, yellow and grey, is close to the site of the Street Food Union Market where Sammie first traded.

The Food:

It’s all about macaron ice cream sandwiches. The inspiration for the shop came about after Sammie was looking for a use for the yolks leftover from making macarons and she discovered egg custard ice cream.

Sammie was born in Hong Kong yet grew up in south London and flavours are inspired by the British comfort food of her childhood alongside Asian influences; think chocolate, banoffee and early grey with lychee, Hong Kong milk tea and black sesame.

The Drinks:

The good news is that those ice creams are also available as milkshakes…

In a Nutshell:

The macaron sandwich is a completely new concept for Chinatown and, we think, for London. Watch out Instagram, there’s a new dessert in town…
