Life As a Female in Retail at O2
Get to know three unique female retail staff at O2 and how they’re acing it, from O2 themselves.
Tech retail tends to be a male saturated environment, so it’s completely understandable if you’re a female and have questions about joining.
O2 is here to break the stereotype. There are so many wonderful things about working in Tech retail, and at a company like O2 you can be sure you’ll be welcomed and supported in your career.
Here’s the inside scoop in the lives of three unique female retail staff at O2, from O2:
Laura, Retail Advisor
Laura is one of our fantastic advisors, she is super passionate about her job and the team she works in. So much so, that she is currently trying to work towards becoming an Assistant Manager and progressing in her role with us.
Why O2 for Laura? Well, because she gets to go to work but also gets to be a Mum to her little boy. She is able to have set shifts that work around him, meaning she always knows when she is meant to be at work, and she can ensure that her little boy is always looked after.
During her time with O2, we have really helped her to grow, learn and develop, not only in work but also outside of work, we have helped her to be able to lower her anxiety and build her confidence. As part of her development, the team went to Twickenham Stadium to do some networking with different stores from different regions within the business.
Susan, Retail Advisor
Susan started with us in September 2018 after spending a number of years at a different retailer. She is one of our amazing advisors in our Farnborough store.
Susan chose O2, because of the shift patterns. It helps her to keep her work life balance, meaning she can still go and see her Mum and continue to live her life. She also likes the fact that stores and head office work together.
O2 is very much a ‘everyone talks to each other’ company, no matter your role, background or where you sit in the business.
Stacey, Store Manager
Stacey is one of our Store Managers, she started her journey with O2 as a Guru and has worked her way up to Store Leader of the Guildford Store.
Stacey’s main role as Store Manager is to brief the team in the morning and get them engaged and motivated for the day ahead. She also makes sure she knows all her team really well because they are all so unique and different – they all have their own talents. Alongside being a store manager, she is also a purpose ambassador and has run events and workshops in our head office.
Stacey loves working for us for a number of reasons. She loves the fact we live and breathe our purposes, we really do make every day better for our customers through personal experiences that count. It is more than just a job, it doesn’t just stop and start in stores, and there are workshops and personal development.
